The Bionic Resistance Shorts (BRS) concept was created in 2006 by Adrian Cornish, a former junior standout track and field athlete with a Bachelor's degree in Biology Pre-Med who believed there was a better way to harness the power of continual resistance for performance training. Because the initial prototype incorporated metal rods along each thigh, the name Bionic Resistance Suit was born, and was later changed to the Bionic Resistance Shorts to reflect the actual product. After hundreds of hours of prototyping and testing, the resistance training equipment concept evolved to become user–friendly compression shorts that provide a much higher degree of resistance – with results that promise to be every bit as “bionic” as the name indicates. In 2013, Adrian partnered with Baton Rouge businessman Nathan Roy, a graduate from LSU, to form APEX Resistance and Conditioning LLC., which was founded 2/27/2014 to further develop, test and market the breakthrough resistance training device. APEX's slogan is The Science of Movement, which was derived after collaborating with LSU School of Kinesiology to test the effects of the BRS on the body. Efficiently designed, the BRS is the culmination of some of the most effective exercise equipment on the market, in one simple and wearable design; thus making exercise more efficient and convenient.
1 // Efficiency
By incorporating the proven principles of resistance, we strive for both efficient product design and the pursuit of physical efficiency. We aim to capture the functionality of traditional equipment and apparel in simpler, better products — and ideally, our products should promote and enable greater physical efficiency.
2 // Quality
There’s no shortage of competing products in the exercise, athletic training and physical rehabilitation industries. But our first concern is always quality, emphasizing materials, construction, durability, flexibility and customizability over mass-produced, mass market products.
3 // Empathy
Our founders have personal experience with high-level athletic training, as well as with serious health issues. From this, we understand that every level of activity can pose certain challenges, and we fully recognize the different personal expectations and limitations of our customers.
4 // Performance
Physical activity and competition — whether with ourselves or against others — can bring out our very best and drive us to achieve what we never dreamed possible. We want people to get the maximum performance from their effort, no matter what physical activity they choose.
5 // Innovation
We believe there’s always a better way to achieve the same result — as well as an opportunity to make the leap of innovation, where fresh thinking and new technology can literally redefine both the approach and the expected results.
